Rezone OKd by Planning Comission

A rezone request for property at 947 S. Curtis Ave. was approved by Planning Commission members.

The request from Braxton Hurst is for property that is slightly more than three acres and zoned agricultural. Hurst told planners that he plans to split the property into three lots -- two lots on the back (west side) of the property and a smaller lot on the front with the current residence. He plans to build a residence on each of the two lots and access off West Harris Street.

City building official Tony Townsend said the current zone is non-conforming as all agricultural property within the city is supposed to be a minimum of five acres.

In other business, planners approved a home occupation request by Linda Atkinson who said she plans to purpose two rooms of her house on Asboth Street (in Windmill Estates) for making lotions and soaps and two home occupation requests for Kasie Brandon on Vineyard Street who plans to operate a photography business and an online children's boutique business. She said no clients will come to the house.
