Board congratulations student track athletes on season wins

Teachers get raise

School Board members congratulated the Lady Blackhawk track team at a recent School Board meeting.

"These are some amazing young ladies," Kevin Ramey, athletic director, said. "They were first-time state champions in indoor and outdoor track. That's a pretty amazing accomplishment."

Athletic director Kevin Ramey told board members that it is being considered to turn the current high school gym into a volleyball facility once the new gym is built.

"With the new high school, we could keep current volleyball team playing in gym we have now," Ramey said. "The biggest thing we want to do is to have a great environment -- full, loud -- for volleyball."

He said that sometimes the atmosphere changes in a bigger arena.

"What we would like to do is make our high school a volleyball facility, do different drawings, make the floor brighter, move air vents... make it a primary volleyball facility," Ramey said. "We will be the only school in conference with that. It gives our volleyball team a home. They can make it theirs -- redo locker rooms, scoreboards -- that keeps atmosphere for their games, creates an experience for kids. That's what we want to maintain. I think it will be unique."
