Addressing the large audience Friday night at the Miss Pea Ridge pageant, former Miss Pea Ridge Abbye Coan (who reigned in 2014), said competing in a pageant is about "finding your inner strengths and finding the queen inside of you that was there all along."
She reminded all the contestants and their parents that they are each "wonderfully and fearfully made by God" and they each have a specific purpose to fulfill. "You don't have to have a crown to do that. There's a queen inside each of you!"
The elder contestants also competed by a vote of the audience for audience favorite and by their peers (all contestants in the teen, Jr. Miss and Miss categories) for the Miss Congeniality.
Miss Pea Ridge
Two lovely ladies competed for Miss Pea Ridge 2018, answering questions, appearing in street dress, sports attire and evening gowns.
Mackenzie France and Makenzie Shirley, both seniors at Pea Ridge High School, were the Miss Pea Ridge beauties.
Miss Shirley was named Miss Pea Ridge 2018. She was also selected audience favorite and Miss Congeniality.
She daughter of Tina Shirley, is a member of National Honor Society and DECA. She enjoys working out, cheerleading and spending time with her family. Her community service includes Samaritan House, Animal Vets, Special Olympics.
Miss France was named first runner-up. She daughter of Barbara France and Chris France.
Jr. Miss Pea Ridge
Jr. Miss Pea Ridge is Claire Hale, 15, daughter of Ryan and Debi Hale.
First runner-up: Kailey King, 15, daughter of Josh and Kristi Thornton.
Second runner-up: Kyla Wheeless, 14, daughter of Patrick and Net Wheeless
Audience favorite: Lillian Peters, 16, daughter of Danny and Kelly Stevenson
