Third Thursday meets

The Third Thursday Community Update will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 19, in the Pea Ridge Library Community Room. Light refreshments will be served. The featured speakers will be:

• Jamie Baggett, Pea Ridge Fire Department chief, and

• Nathan Claytor, Pea Ridge Schools Alternative Learning Education (ALE) director.

The meeting is open to all who wish to attend.

"Hope you can come and learn more about the happenings in our local community," Sandy Lasater with the Pea Ridge Optimist Club, said.

Gospel singing and

potluck slated

Pick'n at the Ridge, a gospel singing and potluck supper is slated for 6 p.m. Saturday, July 21, in Camp's Auction Barn, 980 E. Pickens Rd. (East Ark. Hwy. 72), Pea Ridge.

Potluck will be served. Participants are invited to bring their best covered dish or dessert and get together for good gospel music, food, fellowship and fun. For more information, contact Terry at 479-790-7276 or Russell at 479-903-1594.

Artillery demonstrated

Pea Ridge National Military Park will conduct Civil War artillery programs on Saturday, July 21, 2018. Artillery demonstrations are scheduled for 11 a.m., 12 p.m., 1:30 p.m., and 2:30 p.m. behind the park visitor center. Pea Ridge NMP will be conducting these programs throughout the summer and early fall. You will find a calendar on their website, www.nps.gov/peri.

Pea Ridge National Military Park preserves and commemorates the March 7-8, 1862, battle that helped Union forces maintain physical and political control of the state of Missouri. Administered by the National Park Service, the 4,300 acre battlefield is located six miles east of Pea Ridge, just off U.S. Highway 62. Visit them on Facebook or at: www.nps.gov/peri.

Glade meeting set

The Glade Community Society Historical quarterly meeting is set for 3 p.m. Sunday, July 22, in the Coal Gap School and Glade Post Office/store, 20659 Slate Gap Rd., Garfield.
