An investigation into a reckless driver resulted in the arrest of a Pea Ridge man suspected of thefts in both Arkansas and Missouri.

While patrolling the northeast portion of Benton County in a marked patrol unit shortly after 5 a.m. June 16, a Benton County Sheriff's deputy said he received notice of a reckless driver at the intersection of It'll Do and East McNelly roads heading west, according to the affidavit of probable cause to obtain bond.

Upon arrival in the area, the deputy saw a beige Dodge Ram pickup facing west in the east-bound lane. The front of the truck was "halfway up an embankment with the rear of the pickup truck sticking out in the roadway," according to the affidavit. Casey Butler was standing outside of the truck.

According to the affidavit, Butler, 35, of Pea Ridge, is a suspect in a vehicle theft from the Pea Ridge area and a suspect in a pursuit that occurred in Missouri.

The deputy performed a standardized field sobriety test and as a result of the test, arrested Butler for DWI.

The vehicle was towed. Three glass pipes were found in the vehicle and a white residue inside one pipe field tested positive for methamphetamine. Other items seized included a butane torch and $500, according to the affidavit.

He was charged with careless/prohibitive driving, DWI, no driver's license, no proof of insurance, and two felonies -- three counts possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance.
