Tour road to close

Pea Ridge National Military Park announces temporary tour road closure between Jan. 29 and Feb. 2, 2018.

As part of a water line project currently taking place at Pea Ridge National Military Park, contractors will cut a small ditch across the tour road to install new water pipe. During this time the tour road and horse trail will be closed to all vehicular traffic. The closure is planned to take place Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018, and last only one day.

However, dependent on circumstances, the closure may take place between Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2018, and Friday, Feb. 2, 2018, and last more than one day. Visitors are encouraged to call the park at 479-451-8122 ext. 1227 to inquire whether the road is open during this time frame in order to limit the impact on visitors.

Pea Ridge National Military Park preserves and commemorates the March 1862 Civil War battle that helped Union forces maintain physical and political control of the state of Missouri. Administered by the National Park Service, the 4,300 acre battlefield is located six miles east of Pea Ridge, just off of U.S. Highway 62. Visit PRMP on Facebook or at: www.nps.gov/peri.
