Greetings, Library family!

Are you an avid book lover? Do you often find yourself making up excuses to come visit us here at the Library for the comfort and security that our establishment provides? Does helping children make crafts give you a sense of fulfillment? If you answered "yes" to these questions, then you might be the perfect fit for our open Substitute Library Clerk position. We are now taking applications to fill the position with someone who is outgoing, community driven and who loves working with all ages of children and adults. Please stop by the library for an application today.

For a while now we have been running a program called Reading with a Blackhawk to a select group of children who needed a bit of help to find their own love of reading in school. We have found that the kids thrive from the chance to hang out with a student member of our Pea Ridge Athletics Department, seeing them as a form of role model who inspires them to give books a chance. If you have a child in first through fourth grades who could benefit from this program, we would be pleased to have you join us each Thursday from 3:45 to 4:30 p.m. We have a limited number of spaces available for this program.

It's that time of year everyone and love is in the air. The Friends of the Pea Ridge Community Library are making shopping for your valentine easy by holding their second annual Valentine's Day basket shopping event. There will be a wide variety of basket types to choose from for men, women and children this year!

The sale will begin during normal business hours starting Feb. 6 and lasting through Feb. 14, with an exclusive Friends member pre-sale on Feb. 3 and Feb. 5. All proceeds raised from this event will go towards furthering the growth of the local library. To donate a basket or products for a basket, please do so no later than Feb. 2.

• 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6th -- Graham Cracker Houses, ages 5-15

• 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6- Wednesday, Feb. 14 -- Valentine Basket Sale

• 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6 -- Friends of the Library meeting, open to public
