Lady Blackhawks fall to Lady Lions

GRAVETTE -- After a tough loss to the Lady Pioneers the night before, the Gravette Lady Lions were able to pull off a big win over the Pea Ridge Lady Blackhawks in a rare Saturday evening basketball matchup.

The Lady Lions were the first to score on a 3-pointer early in the first quarter. Two minutes later, the Lady Blackhawks answered with a 3-pointer of their own, tying the score at 3 each. At the halfway mark of the quarter, Pea Ridge took a 6-point advantage over Gravette. But the Lady Blackhawk lead would not last long, as the Lady Lions began a run, eventually overtaking Pea Ridge, 30-23, going into halftime.

It was all Lady Lions in the second half, outscoring the Lady Blackhawks, 16-8, in the third quarter and, 21-11, in the final eight minutes of play. When the final buzzer sound, the Gravette Lady Lions overwhelmed the Pea Ridge Lady Blackhawks by the score of 67-42.

Leading the Lady Blackhawks were Sunny Olsen with 11, Katelyn Swope with 10 and Kiley West with 5. Adding to the scoring effort for Pea Ridge were Maria Socha, Catherine Hooten and Gabby Adams, each with 4, followed by Hollyn Davis with 3 and Meredith Mitchell with 1.

Leading the scoring efforts for the Lady Lions was Cally Kildow with 21, followed by Kyrstin Branscum with 12 and Mallory Smith with nine. Teagan Dixon, Jessica Bookout, Shylee Morrison and Gabbi Curtis each had four points. Rounding out the Gravette scoring were Tori Foster with three and Kasandra Tajchman with two.
