Museum Exhibit Celebrates 50th Anniversary

Fifty from Fifty, an exhibit celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History, opened Monday, Feb. 5. The exhibit will feature artifact acquired during each of the Shiloh Museum 50 years, from 1968-2018. Among the items featured are a "Whites Only" waiting room door from the Springdale train depot, folklorist Vance Randolph's derringer pistol, and a handmade wooden crutch from Newton County. Fifty from Fifty will be on display through Jan. 12, 2019.

George Washington Carver

Curtis Gregory, park ranger at George Washington Carver National Monument, will discuss the life and work of scientist, educator, and humanitarian George Washington Carver, at noon Wednesday, Feb. 21, in the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History.

World War I Draft Resistance

Blake Perkins, author of Hillbilly Hellraisers: Federal Power and Populist Defiance in the Ozarks, will present a program entitled, "Ain't Servin' Them Rich, Silk-Hatted Fellers: World War I Draft Resistance in the Ozarks," at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, in the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History. A native of the Arkansas Ozarks, Perkins is assistant professor of history at Williams Baptist College.

Ozark Animals Photo Exhibit

Creatures Great and Small, a photo exhibit exploring Ozark animals, opened Monday, Dec. 12, at the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History in Springdale. The exhibit will include historic photos of animals as companions, guides, food providers, laborers, athletes, wildlife and modes of transportation. Creatures Great and Small will be on display through May 12, 2018.

Civil War Roundtable

The Northwest Arkansas Civil War Roundtable will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, in the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History.

Wireless Society to Meet

The Ozark Wireless Society will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, in the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History.
