Tressie Thelma Bailey

Tressie Thelma Bailey, 85, died Jan. 18, 2018, in Bentonville. She was born on July 11, 1932, where she grew up as the youngest of five children on her parent's cotton farm in Barney, Ark., to Barney Porter Beene and Myrtle Magaline Hill Beene.

At age 18, she married her love Rex and there began her life's purpose of being a coach's wife and a mother to her three boys. She could be found spending the majority of her time between four different places: In the gym where she was the loudest, most opinionated one in the stands; in the kitchen -- breakfast, lunch, and dinner all from scratch every day with recipes that still live on today!; in the Beauty Shop -- whether it was for herself, her clients, or her granddaughters, looking good was a top priority!; and in the church. She never missed a Sunday morning service. And neither did anyone else if they knew what was good for them! Tressie lived a life and left a legacy of a true matriarch. Her roles as a wife, a mother, and a grandmother were second to none. Her unconditional love, her timeless beauty, and her sassy spirit will live on in all of those who she touched.

Survivors are three sons, Keith Bailey (Rose) of Ida, Ark., Tommy Bailey (Peggy) of Crosbyton, Texas, and Eric Bailey (Kristy) of Bentonville, Ark; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, in Flagstone Church of Christ in Bentonville.
