In Garfield, there are three candidates for mayor -- incumbent Gary Blackburn, City Council woman Katherine Shook and former council member and Justice of the Peace Dale King.
Several incumbent council members in both cities have filed for re-election; most have opposition.
For the first time in decades, Pea Ridge City Clerk Sandy Button has opposition. Button, has held the City Clerk position since 1985, except for a five-year hiatus from 2000-2005. Michael Aaron Kelley filed for the seat the morning of Friday, Aug. 17.
In Pea Ridge, both Council members -- Bob Cottingham and Lance Sanders -- filed for reelection. Both have opposition with Matt Ahart and Cody Keen seeking election in their wards.
In Garfield, Council member Barry Kitterman filed for re-election and faces no opposition. Council member Jim Teeselink filed for re-election and will face Ellen King in the general election. Council member Kathy Shook filed for mayor; no one filed for her council seat. Council member Terry Warren did not file for re-election. David H. Edwards filed for the seat being vacated by Warren.
