Junior tracksters take second in Blackhawk Relays

Competing among a very talented field of teams, including four 6A-7A teams, Pea Ridge turned in some fine performances to capture the second place team trophy in the Junior Blackhawk Relays last week.

Bentonville Lincoln won the girls meet with 176, followed by Pea Ridge 87, Shiloh 70, Siloam Springs 66, Haas Hall Rogers 36, Prairie Grove 33, Gravette 33, Providence 30, Gentry 27, Greenland 16, Rogers Heritage 13, Rogers Lingle 9, Haas Hall Bentonville 7, Elkins 6, Rogers St. Vincent 4, New School 3 and Pea Ridge Middle 1.

Rogers Heritage won the boys division with 143, followed by Pea Ridge 116, Siloam Springs 82, Gentry 49, Shiloh 45, Lincoln 42, Prairie Grove 39, Elkins 25, New School 24, Greenland 22, Gravette 16, Rogers Lingle 12, Providence 4 and Pea Ridge Middle 3.

Five girls scored in the double figures, led by Claire Hales' 15 points. Hale won the 100 hurdles (17.32), took sixth in the 100 (13.99) and was a part of the second place 4x100 team (57.08). She was joined by Lauren Wright, Madison Smith and Bayleigh Cloud.

Adelina Means came up with 13 points with a second place in the 400 (1:09.15) and a fifth in the 800 (2:53.60). She was also a part of the fifth-place 4x400 relay (5:09.36) along with Olivia McCracken, Maddison Robinson and Smith.

Right behind her with 12 points was Lauren Wright who won the pole vault (9'6") and was a part of the 4x100 team. Harmony Reynolds scored 11 with a fourth in the 800 (2:53.57) and a third in the 1,600 (6:17.54). McCracken was the double figure scorer, making 10 points with a fourth in the long jump (13'10") and a fifth in the 300 hurdles (58.70). She ran a leg on the fifth place 4x400 as well.

Other individual scorers include Allie King who was the pole vault (7'6") and Smith who was eighth in the triple jump.

Patrick Elliott led the boys scoring with 27 points. Elliott won the 100 (11.73), 200 (24.85) was fourth in the long jump (17'5") and was a part of the second place 4x100 relay (49.44). Josiah Small scored 19 points with a victory in the 400 (59.67), fourth in the 800, second in the 4x800 relay (10:15.95), and was a member of the winning 4x400 relay (4:09.60). Grayden Edward scored 12 with a second in the high jump (5'4"), a seventh in the 300 hurdles (52.66) and ran on the winning 4x400 team.

Trevor Blair was fifth in the 300 hurdles (52.38) and sixth in the 100 hurdles (20.05) for 7 points; Cole Brown was sixth in the long jump (17'3") and eighth in the 100 (12.51) and ran on the 440 for 6 points; Cole Travis was fifth in the 100 (12.51), eighth in the 200 (26.33) and ran on the 4x100 for 5 points. Tate Christensen rounded out the individual scoring by taking third in the discus (112'7") for six points.

The boys' 4x800 relay took second (10:15.95) with a team of Small, Gavin Stanley, Jorge Vasquez and Marcus Nobles.

The girls' 4x800 was second as well (11:34.87) but names were not available at press time.
