Turkey shoot draws crowd

GARFIELD -- Hundreds of people have attended the Turkey Shoot and Rib cookout sponsored by the Northeast Benton County Volunteer Fire Department for almost a quarter of a century. The 24th annual NEBCO FIRE-EMS Turkey Shoot, Raffle, Rib Cookout & Volunteer Firefighter Appreciation Day is slated from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7.

In addition to the Turkey shoot, there will be a silent auction, bingo, archery contest, kids BB gun shoot, buy-it-now area and all-day raffles. Take an up-close and personal look at a fire truck, rescue unit and ambulance, on display with NEBCO personnel there to answer questions.

The event is held at Station No. 1 on South Wimpy Jones Road just south of the intersection with U.S. Highway 62.

A baby back rib lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tickets are $9 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under.
