Amy Carter is the new principal of Pea Ridge Intermediate School.

Carter, who comes to Pea Ridge from Jonesboro, began working last week. Her hiring was approved during a special School Board meeting Tuesday, Sept. 12.

"I'm excited to be here," Carter said. "I'm ready to call a community home, get settled and become a member of the community where I live.

An educator for 22 years, Carter has most recently been an educational consultant and a school improvement specialist.

"She's able to process school improvement strategies and literature and math strategies," school superintendent Rick Neal told board members. "We're really interested in seeing her expertise in devising a plan to improve teaching and learning."
