Parade and monument honor veterans -- past and present

Judy Greene, McKenzie Patrick and Kasey Snow honored veterans on a float and at the dedication of the Submarine Veterans memorial by dressing as Rosie the Riveter, a cultural icon of World War II, representing women who worked in factories and shipyards producing munitions and war supplies replacing the male workers who joined the military.

Veteran Jack Kelly was one of many veterans in the parade and at the memorial dedication Saturday. Kelly has served as a Pea Ridge City Council member.

Veteran Pete Rathmell was the speaker memorializing deceased submarine veterans of World War II Saturday.

Veterans of all ages and from several branches of the military were part of the parade Saturday for Veterans Day 2017.

Margaret Walton and veterans Vern Walton and Herb Wise visited at the Memorial Saturday. Walton served in the Navy in World War II; Wise served from 1960-1982 as a submarine veteran. He is from Bella Vista.
