New Meadowbrook EH Club

GARFIELD -- Members of the New Meadowbrook Extension Homemaker's Club of Garfield met at the home of Roxie Geddie on Wednesday, Nov. 17. Discussion of the plans for the Christmas Party to be held at Eva Jean Beck's and also of gift giving for the holidays to the Peace at Home Family Shelter in Fayetteville for their Santa Sack.

Meetings were set up for members to work craft projects with residents at Autumn Place in Pea Ridge. The meeting adjourned with all reciting the Homemaker's Creed.

Pea Ridge Optimist Club

The Pea Ridge Optimist Club is promoting "Letters from Santa." A form will be available at Arvest and Equity banks. For a $5 donation, anyone can send someone they love a personalized Santa Letter. The letter can mention areas for improvement such as brushing teeth or doing all homework as well as hinting to the delivery of a wished for gift. Proceeds will benefit an Arkansas Cancer charity. Forms must be received by Dec. 2 to ensure delivery before Christmas.

The Pea Ridge Optimist Club has been active in the community since 2005. Other programs and service projects that the club is involved in includes a Flag Placement Project for major holidays, Essay and Oratorical scholarship contests, and supporting other local groups such as Heart and Sole and the Pea Ridge Boys traveling baseball team.

Optimist International is one of the world's largest service club organizations with 75,000 adult and youth members in 2,600 clubs in the United States, Canada, and throughout the world. Carrying the motto "Bringing Out the Best in Kids," Optimist conduct positive service projects that reach more than 6 million young people each year.
