Shiloh Museum Summer Camps

Openings are still available for the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History's summer camps for children. Campers will explore the intersection of science and history through hands-on activities and crafts related to photography, water, trees, and inventions. Snacks are provided for both camps; lunch is provided for campers attending Session II.

Session I, for ages 7-10, takes place from 9--11:30 a.m. June 19--23. Cost is $30 for museum members; $40 for nonmembers.

Session II, for ages 11-14, takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.July 10-14. Cost is $45 for museum members; $55 for nonmembers.

Space is limited for both camps; preregistration and payment is required. A limited number of scholarships are available. The registration deadline is June 15 or when camps are full.

Living History

Historical reenactor Doug Kidd will explore a soldier's life during World War I at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 17, in the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History. The program is part of the museum's Third Saturday series for families.

Ozark Folk Healing

Brandon Weston of Mountain Man Healing will discuss traditional Ozark folk remedies at noon Wednesday, June 21, in the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History. Weston, whose family has lived in the Ozarks for generations, describes himself as a spiritual healer, herbalist, folklorist, and writer.

Urban Goat Tending Workshop

Greedy Goats of Northwest Arkansas will hold a workshop on urban goat-tending, Saturday July 1, at the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History.

Session One, from 9 to 10:30 a.m., will focus on the basics of small-scale goat raising, including breeds, anatomy, goat psychology, diet, fencing, housing and city ordinances.

Session Two, from noon to 1:30 p.m., will focus on nutrition, health, hygiene, breeding and milking.

Both sessions will be led by Greedy Goats owners Connie Rieper-Estes and Jason Estes. Cost is $10 per session. Space is limited; preregistration by June 23 is encouraged. To register, call the Shiloh Museum, 750-8165.

LifeWriters

LifeWriters, a group for people interested in writing the stories of their own lives or those of family and friends, will meet at 10 a.m. Monday, June 5, and Monday, June 19, in the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History. For information, call June Jefferson at 790-2588 or visit shilohmuseum.org.

Storytellers

The Tellers of Tales storytelling group will meet at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 3, in the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History. All tellers and listeners are invited.

Sacred Harp Singers

The Northwest Arkansas Sacred Harp Singers will meet at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, June 11, in the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History.

Civil War Roundtable

The Northwest Arkansas Civil War Roundtable will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 22, in the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History.

Wireless Society

The Ozark Wireless Society will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 24, in the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History.
