Patton Street will be extended providing an east-west corridor from North Davis Street to It'll Do Road and topographic work has begun, according to city Street Department superintendent Nathan See.

City Council members approved a work order for engineering design services with McClelland Consulting Engineers. The project will include new pavement sections, curb and gutter and a four-foot sidewalk on West Patton (west of North Curtis Avenue).

"Our price for all of the work will not exceed $55,300," See told the Council, adding that city employees will help keep the costs down by doing a lot of the work themselves. "We already have easements and rights of way. Everything is set up and ready to go."

"We've been talking about this project for about four years," See told city officials.

In other business, the council:

• Approved the spring Clean Up dates of April 4-8;

• Approved the city joining the Greater Bentonville Chamber of Commerce;

• Approved the transfer of a fixed asset, a generator, from the old City Hall building to the Water Department; and

• Approved the Pea Ridge Fire Department contract with the Designated Learning Institute for training classes.
