Military Park notes 155th anniversary

Pea Ridge National Military Park will commemorate the 155th anniversary of the Battle of Pea Ridge from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday, March 11, with living history events and guided hiking tours at Elkhorn Tavern.

March 11, 2017

11:30 a.m. & 2 p.m. — NWA Heritage Brass Ensemble, two 30-minute concerts at the visitor center

Historic weapons programs:

• 10 a.m. Union artillery program

• 11 a.m. Union infantry program

• 12 p.m. Confederate infantry program

• 1 p.m. Union artillery program

• 2 p.m. Union infantry program

• 3 p.m. Confederate infantry program

• 4 p.m. Union artillery program

11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. — “The Fight at Clemmons Field” — guided walking tour, 45-minute hike approximately 1 mile round-trip

There will also be concerts by the NWA Heritage Brass Ensemble at the visitor center. A complete schedule of events is available on the park website nps.gov/peri. While this event is not a reenactment, these programs provide great insight into the lives of the men who fought at the battle of Pea Ridge.

Pea Ridge National Military Park preserves the site of and commemorates the March 1862 Civil War battle that helped Union forces gain control of Missouri. The park is located six miles east of Pea Ridge just off U.S. 62.
