Farmers Market continues to expand; offers variety of items

The first Thursday Pea Ridge Farmers Market started off with a bang and vendors are very encouraged by the burst in business.

"Thursday went exceptionally well," said Pea Ridge Farmers Market coordinator Carol Roper.

"We only had three vendors, but a good variety. We had Jai's produce, Jenna's baked goods, and my peaches and jams and jellies. And we were kept steady for the most part," she said.

Steady customers also were the norm on Sunday's Farmers Market. Summer gardens are producing a lot of veggies and Roper is staying busy with making peach cobbler jam.

This week, the Thursday Farmers Market will feature tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, peaches, wild blackberries, jams and jellies, as well as a variety of baked goods.

Sunday's Farmers Market will feature J.D. Hudson's meat and eggs, corn, watermelons, cantaloupes, and a variety of produce, including squash, tomatoes and cucumbers, as well as a variety of jams and jellies.

Thursday and Sunday hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Farmers Market is located at 197 Slack St.
