Pea Ridge Farmers Market expands to Thursdays

The Pea Ridge Farmers Market will open on Thursday this week for the first time this season.

Farmers Market coordinator Carol Roper said several customers and vendors are interested in the extra-day option, and several vendors are committed to featuring veggies and more for the season.

The market will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursdays, beginning this week, as well as the 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays.

Thursday's venue will feature summer crops and baked goods. Vendors also will sell blackberries, more Vanzant peaches and warm weather crops, such as tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers.

On Sunday, Roper also hopes to line up a vendor to sell corn. J.D. Hudson is expected to feature his grilling meats and eggs.

Neighbors who visit the market can find a raspberry jalapeno jelly that makes a fine glaze on meats of all kinds, especially those for grilling; honey, jams and jellies, flowers and much more.

Roper is excited about hosting the Farmers Market on Thursdays as well as Sundays.

"There have been a few inquiries about Thursdays and it will last as long as vendors show up," Roper said.

The market is held at 197 Slack St. For information, visit the Pea Ridge Farmers Market or Heritage Gardens Facebook page.
