Water rates on tap at public forum

GARFIELD -- Water rates will be at the top of the list of discussion items for City Council members at the regular meeting Tuesday, June 13. An ordinance raising water rates has been discussed for several months and presented at two public hearings.

A public hearing will be held from 5 - 5:45 p.m. Tuesday preceding the 6 p.m. Council meeting. Copies of the proposed ordinance are available at City Hall from 7-11 a.m. and noon to 3:15 p.m. Monday through Friday, according to Mayor Gary Blackburn.

Other items on the agenda include: rural community grant program; proposed ordinance approving Garfield planning area; Ord. 129; review a resolution providing a contract with a city attorney and review the ordinance that provides for selling and firing fireworks.

The meeting is open to the public.
