Teens involved in Benton County car chase

LITTLE FLOCK -- Five juveniles in a stolen vehicle were involved in a high-speed chase Monday night through Benton County, police said.

A Little Flock officer saw the car run a stop sign, determined it was stolen and tried to pull over the driver, said Jesse Martinez, Little Flock chief of police. The pursuit began about 10:45 p.m. as the vehicle sped near the intersection of Woods Lane and Little Flock Drive.

The chase lasted 15 to 20 minutes with speeds reaching close to 110 mph, Martinez said. Police pursued the car down Southwest 14th Street into Bentonville, turning north onto Moberly Lane, then northeast onto East Central Avenue and crossing Interstate 49. It ended near the intersection of U.S. 62 and Arkansas 72 near Pea Ridge when the car went off the road and hit a tree.

The juveniles ranged from 14 to 17 years old. Three of the five were taken to Mercy Medical Center in Rogers with minor injuries and one was taken to meet with his father. No one was seriously hurt, Martinez said.

The driver was arrested in connection with fleeing, reckless driving, theft by receiving and multiple counts of endangering the welfare of a minor, Martinez said. The driver was taken to the Benton County Juvenile Detention Center.
