Toys donated

Morgan Guyll knows what it's like to be a patient at Arkansas Children's Hospital. She was first there as a patient in 2012 as an eighth-grade student from Pea Ridge and most recently this past year to remove a benign tumor on her back.

Guyll hasn't let her medical trials slow her down nor dampen her compassion for others. She serves as an ambassador for Arkansas Children's Hospital and, this past week, challenged children attending Vacation Bible School at Twelve Corners Baptist Church to bring in toys to donate to patients at ACH.

The 3- to 5-year-old children brought in the most toys and earned the right to have the first turn on the giant water slide Sunday at Family Night of VBS.

"I set a goal of 300," Guyll said, smiling while showing off the more than 500 toys brought in during the week. "We almost doubled that."

Numbers of toys donated by class are: pre-kindergarten and kindergarten, 208; first and second grade, 66; third and fourth grade, 86; fifth and sixth grade, 116; and youth group, 56.

She loves to volunteer her time to help others.

"I have a lot of empathy for people," Guyll said. "I can relate to them better because of what I've been through," she said.

Guyll commended the children and adults who helped with the toy donation challenge.
