Farmers Market offers bounty of produce and more

The spring rains have brought forth a bountiful season and the Pea Ridge Farmers Market is expanding its number of vendors and items offered.

The market, which takes place every Sunday, just recently expanded to Thursdays.

Last Thursday, additional vendors came on board and five vendors featured veggies and more at the market. Business continues to be steady, according to Pea Ridge Farmers Market coordinator Carol Roper.

The market, open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursdays and Sundays, features a good variety of items, including J.D. Hudson and his grilling meats, wild blackberries, broccoli, cabbage, colorful carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, peaches, baked goods and jams and jellies.

Vendors Ron and Cindy King of Daniel's Corn Farm in Anderson, Mo., feature corn, tomatoes, watermelons, and cantaloupes. Near the end of the July, the couple will bring Black Diamond watermelons.

The farm has been in business for more than 40 years. Their mainstay? Peaches 'n Cream Corn.

The Kings and other vendors will continue to offer their bounty at the Farmers Market, which is located at 197 Slack St.
