New ag room complete

The new 2,000-square feet agricultural classroom is complete and is being used as a lab and for animal science, according to Mark Laster, communications director, in a presentation to the Pea Ridge School Board at the January meeting.

"I'm very proud of this classroom," Perry Mason, ag teacher, said in the video.

There is a washing machine and dryer.

Of the new emergency shower in the facility, Mason said: "In 32 years of teaching, I've never used one and hope we never do."

Laster told the board the new coffee shop is doing well and cleared over $300 in the first day on coffee alone.

The board went into executive session to consider the superintendent's evaluation. After the closed session, the board extended the superintendent's contract for another year, continuing a three-year contract. The contract for Keith Martin, assistant superintendent, was also extended, keeping a two-year contract.

In other business, the board:

• Approved a transfer of a 7-year-old student from Bentonville to Pea Ridge.
