Granthams enjoy generations of FFA

Hello my name is Sydney Grantham. My parents are Micah and Shalako Grantham (previous FFA members). FFA has been in my family for a couple of generations. My grandparents have been in FFA. Now it is down to me. I am the only child in my big family that is still in FFA.

I started FFA in Survey of Agriculture when I was in the 8th Grade. Now I am a Freshmen. I decided to take two FFA classes this year as a Freshmen. Right now I am taking Ag Mechanics, and Animal Science.

I joined FFA because I wanted to learn more about how the real world works in the farming industry. Not only that, but also to learn about animals, and how to weld and do wood work. I joined Animal Science because I wanted to learn more about the animals and how to judge them in contest.. I joined Ag Mechanics because I wanted to learn to some to the things that my father was taught in FFA, such as welding and wood work. In the past years I was looking forward to joining FFA. Last was my chance and I took that chance. It was a good chance. Ever since my first year I have learned so much. I have learned the FFA Creed, how to build a BlueBird House, and many more things, and I still have so much to learn.

You get to experience many things in FFA. Such as judging at the Arkansas/Oklahoma State Fair. You get to do two fundraisers a school year. The Seitz fundraiser, and the Blue and Gold Fundraiser. In the Seitz Fundraiser the top five sellers get a Gift card with a certain amount of money on it to spend at BassPro. That is another trip that we get to take in December. We shop at the store are a couple of hours then we go out to eat at Lambert's in Ozark, AR. They are both really fun trips to go on.

I just want to give a big thanks to Mr. Perry Mason. He gave my this chance to different than all of the other people. He led in the right direction. He led my to the process of my dream job of becoming a Wildlife Officer or be in Agriculture Manager. The primary duty of a wildlife or game officer is to protect her or his assigned habitat or wildlife preserve. That includes enforcement of hunting and fishing regulations and enforcement of permit regulations. Other job duties include enforcing restrictions regarding public use of protected lands and the properties found on those lands. Wildlife and game officers must also patrol many of the off-limits areas of their specified preserve. They have the power to arrest and aid in the criminal prosecution of anyone found violating the regulations.The duties of an Agriculture Manager is overseeing all aspects of running farms and other facilities that produce crops. Some of their duties include planning, supervising, and sometimes participating in the planting, fertilization, and harvesting process. So for that, Thank you Perry Mason.

To all of the parents FFA would be a good activity for you kids because it will teach them how to work with others, leadership and many other things. So they can have people looking up to them. I will leave you with this to think about:
