Three arrested for theft

Two men were arrested for felony theft after deputies made a traffic stop Jan. 29 on a pickup truck on U.S. Highway 62 near Arkansas Highway 72.

According to the probable cause affadivit, deputies noticed the truck with one headlight not illuminated. The vehicle license tag checked to a different vehicle than the one on which it was displayed. As a result of the investigation, police arrested the driver, John Anthony Botson, 23, and Bobby Dewayne DeShields, 30, Pea Ridge, and Kricket Reed, 31, Rogers, for felony theft by receiving. Botson was also charged with driving on a suspended driver's license.

The vehicle was reported stolen out of Springdale; it was put in evidence for Springdale Police.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the state requested a $7,500 bond on Deshields and a $10,000 bond on Botson.

Deshields was still in the Benton County Jail Sunday in lieu of a $10,000 bond. Reed was still in jail Sunday in lieu of $12,500 bond and additionally charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance Sch. I, II; possession of a controlled substance Sch. III; two counts of possession of a controlled substance Sch. IV, V; two counts of possession of drug paraphernlaia; and possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine or cocaine.
