Drive through history

Ranger guided caravan tour of the Pea Ridge National Military Park battlefield will be held every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday weekly at 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 1-2:30 p.m.

Union Artillery demonstrations

Learn the role artillery played in the Battle of Pea Ridge. The park will blank fire a reproduction Model 1841 6-pound gun behind the park visitor center. Programs are at 11 a.m., 12 p.m., 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Programs last approximately 20 minutes and are subject to weather.

Demonstration dates include: Saturday, Aug. 12 and 26; Saturday, Sept. 2 and 23; and Oct. 7 and 21.

Avoca Fire Dept. hosts chicken dinner

AVOCA -- The annual chicken dinner is set for noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, in Avoca City Park. There will be one free dinner per person and donations will be accepted.
