Drugs confiscated by Pea Ridge Police Department

From Staff Reports

Pea Ridge Police seized a large "rock" of methamphetamine, according to a press release.

On the afternoon of March 16, Officer L. Williams of the Pea Ridge Police Department made a traffic stop on South Curtis Avenue at the intersection of Sugar Creek Road. The only occupant was identified as driver Larry Atkinsson, 41, of Springdale.

While in contact with Atkinsson, Williams noted what he considered strange behavior which aroused suspicion, reporting that it appeared Atkinson was attempting to hide something in the vehicle. Atkinsson also approached the officer on the outside of the vehicle as they were speaking with each other, according to the press release.

Safety precautions were taken by Williams and, upon closer inspection, it was determined what Atkinsson was trying to hide in the vehicle. Officers placed Atkinsson under arrest and items were seized from his vehicle. Items seized included a large "rock" of methamphetamine, what appeared to be a recently used smoking pipe, used syringes and $728.

Atkisson was transported to the Benton County Jail where he was booked, processed and incarcerated.

Atkisson was criminally charged with Possession of Controlled Substance (felony), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (felony), Speeding (56 in a 40), No Proof Insurance and No Vehicle Registration. The State requested a bond of $25,000 for his new charges.
