One of my favorite times during the week is just after story hour, when we take deep breaths, thankful the craft actually worked and the children in fact enjoyed themselves.

Every week seems to be a success, but I know one of these times things are going to get hairy. As I am cleaning up, I enjoy watching the parents interact with each other, making new friends, and I am sure having wonderful adult conversations that are often rare in this stage of parenting. I love that the library provides so many different opportunities, it's not just about checking out books.

This last story hour was very eventful, Mrs. Stephanie Rosser and Mrs. Katie Rhine brought in their pre-kindergarten classes for hour story hour. I was astonished! You would think 34 pre-kindergarten children, along with a regular crowd, would be total chaos but it was absolutely delightful! They were such good listeners. I can't wait to have them back.

Our RTI reading buddy program is starting on Oct. 3. I want to provide a quick snack to each child and volunteer before they settle in to do some great reading. I need your help! We need snacks please. We need a total of 700 snacks for the whole session. We need packaged non-peanut snacks that they can gobble down after school. I know how hungry the kids get right after school and how hard it can be to focus and learn when your tummy is grumbling. If you could help we would be very appreciative.

Friends of the Pea Ridge Community Library is at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the library. Please come join us.
