Turkey Shoot is Saturday

GARFIELD -- Shooters take aim at paper targets, scores are assessed and the shooter with the most holes close to the bull's eye wins a turkey. A turkey shoot is an event at which a turkey is the prize, not the target.

The 23rd annual NEBCO Fire-EMS Turkey Shoot, Rib Luncheon and Outdoor Sports Expo is set for 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at NEBCO Station No. 1, U.S. Hwy. 62/ S. Wimpy Jones Road, Garfield.

There is a blind poker shoot in which rifles are used to shoot at paper targets. There is a clay bird shooting event and an archery contest hosted by The Huntin' Grounds.

The festivities, including bingo, silent auction, buy-it-now area, kids games, including the Daisy BB-Gun range plus the Garfield School PTO dunk tank, is an all-day event in Garfield with fun for family members of all ages. There will be many vendors and exhibitors on site including Arkee Fishing Rods, Air Methods Medical Helicopter, Flying RF Feeds, GDG Bluebird & Bat Houses, Indian Creek Woodworks, Mercy Medical Helicopter, Ozark Mountain Trading Company, Vivatar Photo Booth and Wood-N-Needles. Exhibitors include Arkansas Game & Fish, Arkansas Forestry Commission, Beaver Lake Corps of Engineers, Beaver Lake Watershed Commission, Benton County Department of Emergency Management, Daisy Outdoor Products and the Pea Ridge National Military Park.

Raffle tickets available now and at the event with raffles for great prizes all during the event. Lunch on baby back ribs, pulled pork and all the fixings, served from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Event admission is free. Lunch, which includes baby back ribs, pulled pork, baked beans, coleslaw, dessert and a drink, is $9 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under. All proceeds go to the NEBCO Fire-EMS Fire and Rescue Boat Replacement Fund.
