They will be remembered

Some day, maybe 50 or 100 years from now, some little boy or girl will go by the memorial and say, "They served our country, I may serve our country, too, when I am older."

And some day, a great-grandma will tell a child, "He was just like you, he had curly hair and liked to go fishing."

And that child will grow up and tell his grandchild about the little boy who grew up and went to war in a far off place. And the story goes on and is handed down for generations. They are not forgotten for their names are on a memorial somewhere. The viewers do not have to know other than the obvious they served when they depart this place we hope some one will remember and care. We hope and pray someone will mow the cemetery and polish the letters on the monument and treasure the yearbooks the faded letters and yellowed photos and we pray someone will have the love and vision to start and work at the museums and places where memories are kept.

Please God, let us always remember and keep building monuments and telling the stories of the men and women who did whatever our country needed. It may have been newsworthy or may have been a simple as cooking a meal, digging a trench or pushing papers at a desk, but it was service for this country we love and it is an honor and privilege to help build a memorial in our community.
