GARFIELD -- A candidate forum with the eight candidates for three positions on the Garfield City Council is set for 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, in the community room at Northeast Benton County Volunteer Fire Department, station 1. The TIMES of Northeast Benton County is hosting the forum.
There are no contested races in Pea Ridge. Two City Council seats were up for re-election and one council member, Ray Easley, filed for re-election. No one filed against him. Councilman Steve Guthrie said he intended to file for re-election but was confused on the date of the deadline for filing. He said he intends to serve another term.

Guthrie will continue to hold the position. City attorney Howard Slinkard said state law allows an incumbent who is not opposed to stay in the position.
There is one contested race in Gateway with no opposition for four seats.
The general election is set for Tuesday, Nov. 8.
