The library is dry!

In case any of you library fanatics were waking up in the middle of the night worried about the library like I was, let's just go ahead put your caring minds at ease. Gary Stearman and his crew fixed it all with new flashing and proper guttering in about a week just before the rain storm last Tuesday. Mr. Stearman even called the next morning just to make sure everything was okay. We are all very thankful for his service and will proceed with fixing the inside very soon.

I had the great privilege to meet with Senator Cecile Bledsoe Thursday. The meeting had to do with some financials, but I have to say, she gave me some hope for our country. If only all our politicians held her values and standards.

The Friends of the Pea Ridge Community Library will hold their first event on Halloween. Hopefully you have seen the flyers all over town and social media. From 10 a.m. to noon and from 5:30 -7:30 p.m. on Oct.31, come and get your Halloween pictures taken. It will be $5 per family or free to members. There will be a special spooky story time and craft during the morning session to keep any attending little super heroes/princesses entertained. All proceeds go to funding for programs at the Pea Ridge Community Library. The Next Friends of the Pea Ridge Community Library meeting is at 6 p.m. Oct. 18 and we would love to see some new members join us!

The RTI reading program is going wonderfully! I was walking through the halls at the Intermediate the other day and one of the students told me she couldn't wait to come to the library today. She just melted my heart. We start off with a snack (big thank you again to New Life Fellowship) and when all our fantastic volunteers arrive we play a fun game. It is usually some little competition between tables to get the wiggles of the day out. Before we head out to read we talk about goals and accomplishments. It is quite the sight to walk through the library listening to the students read and watching the volunteers paying close attention to every word. RTI days are rapidly becoming my new favorite days here at our cozy community library.

Book clubs met again this last week already and man the months are just flying by it seems! It's exciting to watch the adult book club grow in popularity to where we have this spectacular range of ages bringing about a whole array of different views. Adult book club is currently reading "The Husbands Secret" by Liane Moriarty, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The High Schoolers are reading "The Hate List" by Jennifer Brown. The seventh- and eighth-graders are reading "Noggin" by John Corey Whaley. Finally the sixth-graders will be reading "The Dark Days of Hamburger Haplin" By Josh Berk.
