Veterans Memorial dedicated

Amber Bell, events director for Lewis Automotive Group, presented a check for $250 from Lewis Automotive Group to the members of Post 8109 Veterans of Foreign Wars Jim Parsons, Bob Hauter, Jerry Burton, Kenneth Craig, John Ruddick, Chris Snow and Howard Schultpelz.

Members of the 115th composite squadron of the Civil Air Patrol in Rogers under Major Charles Rine provided the color guard. Veterans from several decades of service attended the dedication of the memorial Saturday, Nov. 12. Bob Jines (below) of Pea Ridge is in front.

Mrs. Freida Crabtree visits with her brother, Hillary Booth, who delivered the invocation at the dedication, and World War II Navy veteran William "Vern" Walton.

Pea Ridge Mayor Jackie Crabtree welcomed the veterans and applauded the work of all who donated to the memorial built by VFW Post 8109.

Three Pea Ridge Police officers are also Army veterans. Officers Eric Lyle, Mike Marler and Brenda Franke stood in front of a memorial stone with Jerry Burton, Navy veteran and commander of Post 8109 for the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

World War II veterans Jay Churchwell, Dave Davidson and Ralph Thornton attended the dedication of the Veterans Memorial.

Veterans from several branches of service and different conflicts gathered for a photograph in front of the stones emblazoned with fellow veterans' names at the new Veterans Memorial in Pea Ridge. The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8109, with contributions from many including school children, built the memorial. Veterans include Howard Schuettpelz and Bob Jines, front; Mark Howell, John Ruddick, Bob Hauter, Kenneth Craig, Jim Parsons, Jerry Burton and Terry Thurman.
