Runoff required

One City Council race in northeast Benton County resulted in a run off, two incumbents maintained their seats and one incumbent was unseated.

No one City Council candidate received more than 50 percent of the votes in the four-way race for the Garfield City Council position currently held by Leonard Matthew Jr.

Matthew received 57 votes, or 22.27 percent. He will face Jim Teeselink who received 106 votes, 41.41 percent. The runoff election is Tuesday, Nov. 29. Early voting begins Nov. 22.

In Garfield, Susan Morrison, wife of the city code enforcement officer, Zannie Morrison, who is also a member of the Planning Commission, defeated incumbent Dale Watkins. Incumbent Katherine Shook retained her seat defeating challenger Scott Wassman.

In Gateway, incumbent Sharon Barnett retained her seat.

In Pea Ridge, City Council member Ray Easley was unchallenged and Steve Guthrie did not file, but will maintain his seat.
