Jr. 'Hawks lose only game of the year to Shiloh

From Staff Reports

The junior Blackhawks lost a heart-breaking game Thursday to the Shiloh Saints in Springdale.

Luis Reyes took the third play of the game 85 yards to the endzone to give the Blackhawks a 6-0 lead early in the first quarter. Shiloh responded connecting on a screen play on third and 22 to take the lead and they never gave it back. Shiloh went up 14-6 with about a minute remaining before half

"I should of taken a knee and had our guys regroup but we tried to score again before the half," coach Cody Alexander said. "We fumbled and they scooped and scored and made it 21-6. That gave them a lot of momentum to end the half."

Shiloh blocked a punt to score and added a couple of late scores, before Lance Nunley carried the ball all the way down the field for the Blackhawks to make the final 41-12.

The junior Blackhawks finished the season 9-1.

"It didn't end the way we wanted it to," coach Alexander said. "All the bounces went their way and they played a heck of a game. It's the fourth year in a row that the Blackhawks have been playing in a game in week 10 for the Junior High Conference Championship.

"They have won two and lost two. That's a great thing to make a habit of and we plan to continue taking our program from good to great."

Those three groups will all suit up next year together and all four groups will suit up together for the playoff run that Senior High Blackhawks start this week.

"The Future is bright! Go BlackHawks!" Alexander said.
