Stones with names of veterans were placed this past week as members of Post 8109 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars prepared for the dedication of the new Veterans Memorial in Pea Ridge.

Commander Jerry Burton said names can be added to the stones.

Kenneth Craig, senior vice-commander, said he is still seeking entries for the annual Veterans parade planned for 1 p.m.Saturday, Nov. 12. Craig said he would like to see horses and a horse club participate in the parade as well as any businesses that want to prepare a float to honor veterans.

"I already have a float for the Vietnam War," he said, adding that he would like to see floats recognizing Marines, the Navy, the Air Force, Coast Guard and the Army. Other ideas for floats include: Civil War float focusing on the Battle of Pea Ridge, World War I float, World War II float, Korean War float, Persian Gulf War float, War in Iraq float, War in Afghanistan float, Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association (CVMA), Military vehicles, Rosie the Riveter float, JROTC, Civil Air Patrol, Cub Scouts/Boy Scouts, POW/MIA representation, "Veterans walk" or driven in vehicles, in uniform if possible, VFW, American Legion and public service vehicles (police, firemen, EMS).

To register a float or for information, contact Craig at 417-435-2326 or 417-342-6765.
