The Pea Ridge High School Band won first place at a music festival at Worlds of Fun in Kansas City Saturday, May 7.
The park hosts this contest over three weekends each year in May. High school and middle school choirs, orchestras, concert bands and jazz bands attend the festival to perform for judge's scores and rankings.
The Pea Ridge Band had the highest scores for the day of bands on Saturday and placed first ahead of the 35 other bands in attendance from Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas and Arkansas. Each band performed two tunes of their choice for the judges.
Pea Ridge performed "Two British Folk Songs" by Elliot Del Borgo and "Angelic Festival" by Richard Saucedo. This was the final event for the band to participate in this school year and will now begin preparations for next fall.
