Library director sought

Ms. Peggy retiring

After much serious thought, I have tendered my resignation/retirement to the library board. This was not an easy decision. The Pea Ridge Community Library has been my world since Mrs. Linda Whitaker's leaving a few years ago and saying goodbye will not be easy. When I accepted this position I never imagined I was embarking on a journey that would test my strength, endurance, patience and capabilities to the breaking point but I would not have missed this journey for the world. I have met some wonderfully kind and helpful people and made the most amazing friendships. I often said I would retire when the multi-purpose room was completed, thinking that would be further down the road. But life sometimes has other plans -- like health issues and old age!

Applications are being accepted until May 18 for a full-time library director. Applications and a copy of the job description may be picked up at the library during normal business hours. Once the director is on board, the library hours will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. I will remain as the librarian until the library director's position has been filled and that individual has been trained.

And as much as I will miss the patrons, the board members, my co-workers and volunteers, I am looking forward to viewing the library from the other side of the librarian's desk.

See you at the library -- for a few more weeks anyway!
