Blackhawks fall in 1st round of tournament

Blackhawk baseball and softball competed Thursday in the Regional tournament in Prairie Grove. Both teams lost ending their season for 2016.

Pea Ridge 4, Clinton 5

Pea Ridge Blackhawks led the game as they jumped to a 3-0 lead after two innings. Clinton Yellow Jackets tied the game with three runs in teh fifth inning, then took the lead with two runs in the top of the eighth.

Blackhawk junior Cole Wright pitched all eight innings.

Senior left-hander Kannon Bradley pitched all eight innings to lead No. 4 seed Clinton to a victory over Pea Ridge, the top seed from the 4A-1 Conference.

Pea Ridge 1, Pottsville 3

The Lady Apaches (24-6) struck first on Aspen Campbell's two-run single in the first inning and never trailed behind the pitching of senior right-hander Savannah Gosnell.

Gosnell tossed a three-hitter while striking out 4 to record the complete-game win.

Pea Ridge (13-7) broke up Gosnell's shutout bid when Halley Laster -- who had two of the Lady Blackhawks' hits -- hit a two-out, RBI single in the seventh inning.

Sara Whatley had two hits and one run scored. Halley Laster had two hits and one RBI.

Alie VanHouden allowed three runs on six hits, striking out three.
