Three applicants seek one seat

Three people have thrown their names in the hat to be appointed to the Pea Ridge Planning Commisson. Donnie Ewald, Scott Kelley and Tim Salmonsen.

Ewald and Kelly attended the March 1 Planning Commission. Both said they want to serve their community and to help Pea Ridge grow in an orderly fashion.

Ewald is senior manager for WalMart. He said he desires to "bring my experience as an organized, concerned and detail-oriented citizen to support the interests of the growing Pea Ridge community."

"I would be honored to serve the community of Pea Ridge as a member of the planning committee," Kelly said. Kelly is the regulatory project manager of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers-Rogers Regulatory Field Office and lives in Pea Ridge.

"I would be happy to serve the Pea Ridge community in this role," Salmonsen wrote. "I have been a resident of Pea Ridge for the past 18 years. I have an extensive background in Real Estate and business."

Salmonson is a commercial director/broker and real estate broker. He said he is currently head of the commercial division at Keller Williams Market Pro Realty.

Mayor Jackie Crabtree said he received Salmonsen's applicatioin Wednesday.

"I will make my selection and recommend one to the Planning Commission," Crabtree said, adding that it is his responsibility to appoint someone to the Planning Commisson.

Pea Ridge Planning Commission is comprised of seven members, each of whom serves a five-year term. It meets the first Tuesday of every month in City Hall. Planning Commission members are appointed, and vacancies filled, by the mayor with the consent of the City Council, according to city ordinance.
