Musings on vaction Bible school, loss, snakes

A few community notes.

The memorial service for Mrs. Houseworth will be in the fellowship hall on June 18. She was a favorite of mine. Jake and Rheta Van Dorn are making plans to move to Memphis to be closer to family.

A couple of young women of our church family are making June wedding plans.

Betty Weston has gone on a trip to Canada to visit old friends from camping days.

Kathy Good and granddaughters are spending a few days at the lake.

Imogene Stanford is celebrating a birthday this month. Yes, they roll around fast.

Kick off day for vacation Bible school is July 18 at 6 p.m. I've gone to VBS since I was 5 to a small country church at a dirt road intersection that my dad and grandpa helped build after one burnt. We learned bible verses to earn a small New Testament. I'll attend the adult classes at the Pea Ridge church. I'll do my best to act like an adult as long as no memory work.

What did I do wrong that I have so many ants on the counters? I finally found ant spray in the store. I guess we all knew that the gas price wouldn't stay that low.

Several times this week I've thought "Oh I need to tell my sister that." Oh, yes, she died. The sadness is becoming less.

The blouse I bought to wear to her funeral doesn't hang right after washing. I tried it on again and just dropped it in the thrift store box. There are some things in this world worth getting upset over (like these insurance forms) but that blouse wasn't one of them.

The Wellness Center garden volunteers have worked so hard to compensate for the mild winter and lots of rain. The disease on the knockout roses caused them to come out and all new plants are coming in. Some of them are yellow roses. I don't do much but pull weeks and dead head flowers.

A William Kramer quote I liked was "If you've heard this joke before don't interrupt me. I want to hear it again."

On the news I saw that a snake had fallen from a dash board across a woman's feet. She didn't seem too upset over it. I was more upset than she was just watching it. For the next two days I kept pulling my feet back and scanning the floor boards. I'm getting over it now.

Do I want my ceiling fans to blow the air down into the room or up towards the ceiling for summer months?

'Til next time.
