Hi Pea Ridge!

The past few weeks have been a whirlwind of learning and meeting so many of our sweet patrons. Peggy is such a doll and makes sure that I am introduced to everyone always including a fun tidbit about who they are or how they have helped our precious library. Thankfully, Peggy has a few more weeks to stick around and show me the ropes. It seems that summer just started but we are already in planning mode for fall! The Pea Ridge Community Library has some great things coming. If you are a Facebook fan, please be sure to like our page to see regular updates on new books, movies and events.

The Library is seeking energetic, innovative individuals for two part-time library assistants. This position requires organizational skills and an ability to demonstrate a professional demeanor. Applicants must have a high school education and will be required to complete a background check. Applications may be picked up at the library 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Deadline for applications is June 23. Hurry! Spread the word!

The summer reading program is off to a strong start. We have extended the deadline to return your reading logs to Monday, Aug. 1. We will then have a celebration on the evening of Friday, Aug. 5th. If your children haven't signed up yet, there is still plenty of time.

We will be increasing the length of time a book can be checked out from two weeks to three weeks. Movies may be kept for two weeks. In addition, the library hours will be extended sometime in July and will include being open on Fridays!

The gorgeous community room is now available for rental. If you haven't come in and glanced at this space, you are missing out. Details on renting the community room for the day can be picked up at the library during business hours and will soon be posted on the website as well as on Facebook. Civic and home school groups please come in or call to find out the details of using the room free of charge.

The library staff will help at the Back to School Bash, sponsored by Bright Futures. We will give out books and other goodies. Any slightly used children and young adult books are welcome as a donation to help this cause and may be brought by the library.

I hope you all have an enjoyable week.
