The seat held by Jenny Wood is up for election this year.

Wood, who has served two terms, said she plans to file for re-election.

The Pea Ridge School Board is comprised of five positions with each member serving a five-year term, thereby opening one seat per year. Board members in addition to Wood and the year their term expires are Sandy Button, 2017; Jeff Neil, 2018; John Dye, 2019; and Ryan Heckman, 2020.

Persons interested in filing may pick up a packet at any Benton County Clerk's office. Both the Bentonville office at 215 E. Central and the Rogers branch office at 1428 W. Walnut St., are open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Candidates may file petitions and other related paperwork with their county clerk starting July 5. The deadline to file is noon July 12.

Board candidates must file petitions with at least 20 signatures from registered voters within the school district or from within the zone they would represent to appear on ballots. They must be qualified voters and live in the district or electoral zone for which they're running.

School board elections are scheduled for Sept. 20.
