Mayor to read to children

This is such a wonderful job! I wake up every day excited about getting to go to work. Yes, books have always been a passion of mine, but people are what is best! Our library patrons are the sweetest, most loving human beings I have ever encountered. Not only has this library been Linda and Peggy's baby, it's obvious our community members treasure it as well.

I have learned that Pea Ridge is growing rapidly and, along with growth, comes change. I am learning to follow in some amazing paths left before me. I have much respect for the dedicated volunteers, past librarians and steadfast patrons.

Library hours

Monday-Friday: 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.

The amount of book donations have been incredible, from children's, adult, political, historical and beyond! One donor gave us what looked to be a very old newspaper dating back to 1861. We passed them on to Jerry Nichols with the Pea Ridge Historical Society. Hopefully they are authentic and can be an asset. I highly suggest searching out Mr. Nichols and his wife; you will not regret your time and will walk away with great knowledge.

The next couple of weeks are going to be very busy here at the library and around town. Here is what we have going on:

Mayor Jackie Crabtree is coming for a fantastic story time and craft event at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 27. Alex Wright and I have been working hard on finding just the right book and craft, and we have nailed it. Right after, that at 11:30 a.m., Mrs. Noelle Webb will teach a Water Color Art Class. We still have a few openings left for those who come by the library to sign their child up.

Book club books are ready to go. If you signed up and took part in picking out titles for the next five months please come by the library on Aug. 1 to pick up your first book. There are only 12 places open in each book club. If you are interested and going into sixth grade or higher, please contact the library as soon as possible. Adults, there is lots availability for you as well.

This is also the last week for all Summer Reading Program participants to turn in their reading logs and receive the information about the award and celebration event. The deadline is Aug. 1.

We will be at the Back to School Bash on Saturday, Aug. 6, handing out books to the children of our area.

A few reminders: We have an amazing multipurpose room for many to rent! It would be perfect for a large meeting or celebration. The rental fee helps fund the library. You can pick up an information packet anytime.

Also, we are always taking Box Tops for Mrs. Andrea Ricketts. However, she would like me to note that they have discontinued the soup labels.
