Christopher Columbus "Lum" Gibson who settled near the Spring Valley area in northeast Washington County, originated a basket design in the 1880s that has been passed down in the Gibson family for generations," said museum director Allyn Lord. "The design is distinctive for its twill-patterned rectangular base, thick handle, and absence of nails," Lord continued. The exhibit will feature baskets from the University Museum collection as well as the Shiloh Museum collection.

Lum Gibson's Legacy is co-sponsored by KUAF 91.3 National Public Radio.
