She is a graduate of Belton High School, Belton, Mo., earned her bachelor's degree from Missouri State Universty and her master's from the University of Arkansas. She was on a dance team in high school and college.

The best advice she ever received as an athlete? "Never forget your techniques and basic skills foundation. When everything seems to be working against you and you can't seem to 'get in the zone,' go back to the basics."

The advice she would give to student athletes? "Trust and believe in your team. My team's moto is 'Together we're better!'"

Her husband is Ian Starnes. She enjoys cooking, reading and cycling.
