Two positions are available in Pea Ridge and five each in Garfield and Gateway.
Both Pea Ridge City Council members Bob Cottingham and Steve Guthrie both said they intend to file for re-election. Pea Ridge is a first-class city. The positions in Pea Ridge are for four-year terms.
In Garfield, all four aldermen positions are open for election, as is the recorder/treasurer position (a four-year term). Garfield is a second-class city. Currently, Dale Watkins, Leonard Matthew Jr. and Katherine Schook hold seats. A seat vacated by Malania Carter was to be filled by appointment of Terry Warren at the Garfield City Council meeting Tuesday, Aug. 9. The aldermen positions are for two-year terms.
In Gateway, a town, all five City Council positions are up for election. The positions are for two-year terms.
Friday, July 29, was the first day candidates were able to file for city races that will appear on the Nov. 8 general election ballot. The filing period ends at noon Aug. 19.
